Raven's favorite color combination (turquoise/teal, purple, and black) is today's manicure inspiration. Follow the steps below to achieve the same look.
1) Trim and file your nails. The straight or square tip look actually helps nails from breaking.
2) Plain out which nails will get what color and select one to marble. The marble technique will use at least two of the colors.
3) For the marbled nail have a small bowl of water, a toothpick and lotion/vaseline. Before painting nails at any time apply lotion or vaseline around the nail (only on the skin) to make cleanup easier.
4) Paint your nail with the lightest color (or white). I used Mint Apple from the Sinful colors Professional line. Only apply one coat and let it dry completely.
5) Fill your bowl about 3/4 full of cold tap water. Add 2 drops (by letting the polish fall off the brush) of the lightest color (if you used white for the base coat, do not add it to the water, use the next lightest color) and quickly add 2-3 drops of the next color. The second color added to Raven's was NYC's In a New York Minute Prince Street.
6) While still working quickly once the colors are floating (they will spread on the water's surface) swirl them together using a toothpick. Dip your nail flat against the surface of the water/polish mixture for a moment then remove your nail. Use a q-tip or another toothpick to remove the excess polish from around your nail. Let this nail dry before continuing.
7) For the rest of the manicure Raven applied two coats of matte Rise and Shine from the Sinful Colors to the middle nail, the ring nail received two coats of Enchanted from Sinful Colors, and both the pinky nail and thumb nail received two coats each of Mint Apple.
8) You can choose to leave your manicure as is, or finish it off with a clear top coat.
