According to Elle autumn makeup is taking a change from the usual smoky eye and red lips. The newest fall looks include English Rose, Romantic Goth, Space Odyssey, and Sunset. English Rose features soft glowing skin, flushed cheeks, and pale pink lips, this look is as natural as it gets. Eyes are kept soft with nude shades, and cheeks receive the slightest touch of blush, and lips are given a soft pink color; try Covergirl’s LipPerfection Lipcolor in Darling. English Rose gives a springtime makeover to the fading summer tans before heading into the cold winter months. Romantic Goth stays with tried and true red lips in a darker shade but leaves eyes almost untouched. Lips are treated to colors such as “blackened berry” or “oxblood,” while eyes are given a quick sweep of a pale or neutral shade, light blush for the cheeks is optional, and a coat or two of mascara finishes off the look. An added tip is to paint nails with a similar “blackened red” shade of polish. To achieve this look for Revlon’s Super Lustrous in Black Cherry. Space Odyssey plays with eye shadow in purples, oranges, greens, and blues; the whole look depends on the eyes rather than the lips where are given a nude shade of lipstick. Colored eyeliner and mascara give even more creative options. Eye color palettes from Maybelline such as the Color Explosion palette in Amethyst Ablaze or Color-Plush in Sapphire Siren offer plenty of options for this look. Sunset is exactly what it says, a makeup look inspired by the moments just before night fall when the sky is a mix of red and orange. Whereas the beauty trends are staying away from the classic red lip, this look allows for bright red or an orange shade of lipstick, however the main focus is still on the eyes using the same two colors to create unique looks. Sleek Makeup’s Sunset i-Divine palette offers a selection of red and gold eyeshadows. |
